Self-service exploration
Explore the CHIS indicators
Browse health, economic, housing, and social indicators for Alameda County adults aged 18–59 living at or below 250% of the federal poverty level.
What this data is — and what it can't do (read first)
This explorer is built on pre-tabulated estimates from the 2024 California Health Interview Survey (AskCHIS), not individual-level records. Each indicator was exported as its own finished table. That shapes what's possible here.
What you can do
- View each indicator's breakdown (% of the population in each category)
- Split any indicator by gender (Male / Female / All)
- Compare Alameda to a California benchmark (where available)
- See the 95% confidence interval and population estimate for each value
- Export the displayed indicator to CSV
What this data cannot support
- Cross-tabbing two indicators (e.g. binge drinking among the food-insecure) — the source has no record-level data to join
- Filtering the population by any characteristic — the cohort is fixed
- Trends over time — this is a single survey year (2024)
- Any breakdown other than gender
Reliability: CHIS flags estimates as statistically unstable. Following your instruction, every unstable value is treated as blank — shown as "not reportable" and never charted or fabricated. A dash (–) in the source means no estimate was produced for that cell.

Population: Alameda County adults aged 18–59 at ≤250% federal poverty level, unless an indicator notes otherwise.
Estimates are weighted population projections rounded to the nearest 1,000; they are survey estimates, not exact counts. Percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding and suppressed cells.
